Planting The Flag

It's been a crazy day!  After a grueling, 12 hour flight to Shanghai Putang airport, I was picked up by Mr. Li, an education expert who will be my liĆ”ison at the elementary school I will begin teaching at tomorrow.  I was supposed to get settled in first for a few days, but I was just told I have to start tomorrow at 6 am because the kids are so excited to meet me, their American Teacher!  Haha, I guess jet lag will have to wait!

My school is in a small town about 10 hours due west of Shanghai by bus, I'm told.  China is a big country!  I spent all this time going east and now I'm going back out west, lol!  I'm so excited to be here and I have so many questions, but Mr. Li is constantly on his cell phone so I haven't been able to learn much yet.  He sure is a busy guy!

I just wanted to let all my friends back home know that I will be keeping up this blog as much as I can. As the only American in China, I feel it is my duty to not only act as a cultural ambassador, but let the folks back home know as much as possible about this wacky country, and inform everyone about all the progress they are making.

I'll check in as soon as I'm done with class!
